Hi, I’m Laura – a Jesus follower, adventure lover, and unlikely ranch wife. I fell in love with and married a fourth generation rancher. Ours was a whirlwind romance, and it wasn’t long before we said our “I Do’s,” I quit my job, sold my house, and moved all of my belongings in an open-top horse trailer out west. And it’s been an adventure ever since.
I was raised in one of the biggest counties (population wise) in Texas and now currently reside in one of the smallest. I grew up hunting and have always had a deep love for the outdoors, but I certainly had no clue about ranching, the cowboy code, or what it’s like to live two hours from any city. It’s been a transition filled with laughter and tears and most certainly adventure as I’ve embraced the ranching way of life.
Over the last few years, my friends have encouraged me to share some of the stories, and I finally decided to follow their advice. Ever since I began my life on the ranch, I’ve learned a lot about simple-living, the gift of hospitality, and the art of finding beauty in the everyday. And mostly I’ve learned ranch life – well really, all life – takes a whole lot of grit & grace.
So join me, a somewhat town-girl turned cowgirl, as I chronicle the adventures and lessons learned from life on the range. At Grit & Grace, you will find inspiration for simple living and hospitality, stories of ranch life and cowboying, travel adventures off the range, lessons learned from remodeling our 100 + year old ranch house, and most importantly our faith in Jesus which so deeply affects all of the others.
I’d love for you to follow along.
